Pullman Porters were men who worked as porters on sleeper cars on the railroad. An American engineer named George Pullman, who designed the Pullman sleeping car, employed formerly enslaved men as porters after the Civil War. In Canada, porters were employed by Canadian Pacific Railway. Porters assisted passengers on trains.
