Refonder les histoires II - Les voix de la résistance

2018

Espace de la diversité in collaboration with éditions Mémoire d’encrier, the Zone Libre bookstore, the Salon du Livre de Montréal and a dozen cultural and community organizations launch Les voix de la résistance (Voices of resistance), the second edition of the Refonder les histoires event. Over 70 authors from Quebec, Canada and the French-speaking world will be taking part. The event will feature a wide range of authors, ideas and imaginative literatures embodying struggle, hope and resistance.

Program: some fifty events and meetings at the Salon du livre and in the communities (Ahuntsic, Little Burgundy, St-Michel, St-Léonard). At the heart of this resistance are the voices of the indigenous, racialized and rebellious, and the singular voices of the new generation and the renaissance.

Let’s ask ourselves some fundamental questions: What can literature do to bring about a just, open society that refuses to turn in on itself? Is literature still that miraculous weapon against fear of the other? What does it mean to resist a world damaged by war, pollution and inequality? What words, forms and works embody resistance?

In 2017, committed writers, readers and artists shouted :

No to racism! Today, it’s time to RESIST. Against whom? Against what?
Today, let us proclaim resistance, revolt, struggle and hope.
