This discussion, organized in collaboration with Editions Mémoire d’encrier to mark Black History Month, will revolve around the question: How do we read James Baldwin today?
Speakers:
- Mélikah Abdelmoumen is editor-in-chief of Lettres québécoises magazine and has published numerous articles, short stories and books, including Les désastrées (VLB éditeur, 2013) and Douze ans en France (VLB éditeur, 2018). Baldwin, Styron et moi (Mémoire d’encrier, 2022) is her tenth book, and was the subject of a reading-performance presentation at FIL 2021.
- A lawyer by training with a passion for reading, Marjorie Houle-Benoît created the YouTube channel and Instagram account “Lectures de Marjorie”, dedicated mainly to Haitian literature of all kinds.
