Born in 1958 in Port-au-Prince and trained as an agronomist, Gary Victor is a columnist and journalist in Haiti, and has held various positions in the Haitian civil service. Since 1981, this committed citizen has been writing a body of prose that combines theater, short stories and novels. These include À l’angle des rues parallèles 1 1 Gary Victor, À l’angle des rues parallèles, Port-au-Prince, C3 Éditions, 2014 [Vents d’ailleurs, 2003; L’Imprimeur II, 2000], 176 p., available in coffee-table book format. Published in Haiti, France and Canada, this writer’s works bear witness to his rebellious spirit and critical distance from Haitian social life. The recipient of numerous awards and honors, Gary Victor was awarded the Prix du Rayonnement de la langue et de la littérature françaises by the Académie française in 2018.
