Refonder les histoires VI: Ode to the Earth and Life

In September 2025, Espace de la diversité is launching the sixth edition of its major series Refounding Stories: Ode to the Earth and Life.
This literary event will include a series of events focusing on ecology, ecological and climate crises, greenwashing, and how to rethink the living world. Literature and the arts will pay tribute to the earth and living things, between utopia and dystopia. Faced with the urgency of an unprecedented environmental crisis and the failure of nations and governments to slow down the destruction of our living environments and living things, we will invite authors and artists whose works pay tribute to the earth and living things to discuss the role of literature and art.
This edition looks to the future of the planet and living things and questions the role of literature in finding a way out of the governmental and climate crises that threaten the survival of life.
Writers, facilitators, cultural figures, and social activists representing a diversity of backgrounds and experiences from Quebec, Canada, and other countries will come together to discuss these vital and urgent issues, to reinvent new narratives and a possible future for living beings and future generations. Young authors will meet with their elders to exchange views on these urgent and necessary issues.
Program:
A wide range of voices, ideas, and imaginations, through meetings, discussions, workshops, talking circles, readings, music, and poetry.
Goal:
To combat racism, exclusion, war, and environmental and climate crises through books and literature; to celebrate writers who, through their imagination, challenge and reshape the order of things.
